Everyone Can Become Great

Do you think you can become great? Coupla things on that: 1) EVERYONE can become great; and, 2) As per Ford, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

Too often we look at those we admire and think it must have been their destiny to achieve greatness. Something in their genes or astrological chart or just sheer luck.

Huh? That’s just a REALLY weak excuse for us failing to step up to our own greatness.

As Wattles says, ““It is within the power of every man to become great.”

And the great Paulo Coelho echoes that when he says, “I learned the most important lesson of my life: that the extraordinary is not the birthright of a chosen and privileged few, but of all people, even the humblest. That is my one certainty: we are all the manifestation of the divinity of God.”

YOU HAVE SEEDS OF GREATNESS IN YOU!

I hope you already know that and I hope you have enough strength to work on yourself till you manifest it and most fully give yourself to the world. Why? Well, we need it. But, more importantly, YOU need it! As Abraham Maslow states: “If you deliberately plan on being less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you’ll be unhappy for the rest of your life.”

You might be thinking, “Oh, but me? I can’t possibly be great. You should have seen how I was raised.” Or, “Not for me. I’m in prison.” Or, “Me? blah blah blah blah boring story blah.”

Whatever. You only need to look at so many people like Oprah or Malcolm X or 50 Cent (OMG. Former thug drug dealer turned artist turned future billionaire simply rockin’ his greatness!) to anyone else you wanna pick who had way worse circumstances than you and turned it around.

Of course, the STATISTICS will tell you that you won’t do it. But who gives a *%$# about statistics? If one in a million make it, those are great odds. How many of you are there? Just do it. :)

So, I’ll pick up my megaphone one more time: “IT IS WITHIN YOUR POWER TO BECOME GREAT!!!”

evolving for billions of years from the first cell

to us. We are becoming aware that through our

own consciousness the universe can know itself.

This awareness reveals incredible new potential

for our individual and collective humanity.

Simultaneously, we are the first species on

this Earth aware that we can destroy ourselves

by our own action. This may be the greatest

wake-up call to the evolution of consciousness

since the origin of Homo sapiens.

We now realize that we are affecting our

own evolution by everything we do. This knowledge

more conscious through subjective practices including

meditation, reflection, prayer, intuition,

creativity, and conscious choice making that accelerate

global crises challenge us to learn to live sustainably,

in harmony and gratitude with one another

and with the living universe. The changes

required of humanity are broad, deep, and far

reaching. Only by acting swiftly and creatively

can we birth a planetary culture that will bring

well-being to every form of life in the Earth community.

The good news is that a compelling new

story of our potential as a whole human species

is emerging - a story of collaboration, citizen action,

dialogue and new understandings propelled

by unprecedented levels of democratic freedom,

multicultural exchange, and access to communication

technologies. It is nothing less than the

story of our collective evolution.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTION

We recognize that the inner and outer aspects

of life evolve together. A dramatic awakening

in consciousness will involve an equally

dramatic shift in outward aspects of our lives. In

particular, we see the following as vital opportunities

for our conscious evolution, both personally

and collectively:

Cultivating a Paradigm of Aliveness: We regard

the universe as deeply alive and conscious

by nature. In a living universe, our sense of subtle

connection and participation with life around us

is the basis for a compassionate and cooperative

approach to living.

Educating for an Evolving Consciousness:

Awakening consciousness is the foundation for all

the change we seek to see in the world. We can

work to elevate our capacity for conscious reflection

and creative action in our personal lives

as well as our collective lives as communities. We

must support research and educational strategies

that optimize human capacities and explore the

nature of consciousness.

Restoring Ecological Balance: The balance

of planetary ecosystems is fundamental to our

survival. We must reverse the pollution of our

global commons - the water, air and soil that

nourish all life. We must encourage the proliferation

of clean, renewable energy sources and expend

all necessary resources toward mitigating

the effects of climate change.

Encouraging Conscious Media: We must find

innovative ways to use the new electronic media

as the mirror of our positive evolutionary story,

investing in their capacity to reach across differences

of generation, culture, religion, wealth, and

gender to build a working consensus about our

collective future.

Engaging in Social and Political Transformation:

More sustainable ways of living will require

the support of a more conscious democracy and

vibrant civil society from which more enlightened

leaders will emerge. All individuals should be encouraged

to use their gifts to create participatory,

responsible and compassionate models of governance.

Working for Integrity in Commerce: Conscious

businesses that are aware of the scope,

depth, and long-range impacts of their actions

are key to achieving sustainability. Business must

become an ethical steward of the Earth's ecology

and consciously establish an economic basis for a

future of equitably shared abundance.Promoting

Health and Healing: The science of mind-bodyspirit

health has demonstrated the profound connection

between the health of a whole person

and the health of the system in which he or she

lives. Whole systems healing, respecting both traditional

knowledge and modern sciences, must

be supported in physical, social, and spiritual domains.

Building Global Community: The new story

is about all of us who share this planet. Together,

we can create a culture of peace that eliminates

the need for armed conflict, respecting and appreciating

the glorious diversity of our human

The Law of Relativity

The Law of Relativity

Energy isn't positive or negative. It can't be judged without comparison. No matter how successful you are, someone will always be more successful at something than you. No matter how grim your circumstances may seem there is someone who would welcome them in contrast to their own. What is simply is. Our judgment is chosen illusion.

No goal, thought, idea or obstacle is large or small, far or near, overwhelming or simplistic until you relate it to something else. The only difference between goals that you believe to be simple to achieve and ones you believe to be challenging is what you believe about them. Are you really where you think you are? Does there have to be that many steps in between you and your goal or is that something you assume? Are the steps truly large or small?

If you change your relationship to a dream you change the attainability of it. If you dissolve the illusion of size, difficulty and distance you come to realize that any goal is equally achievable. The actions you take to attain them may be different but that doesn't make them any more difficult or time consuming. Change your perspective and you change how you relate to your goal.

Sweeping in front of own front door

Well, it's been a lazy Saturday on the first Day of Spring.  Did some cleaning of my outer Porch and Stairways, then swept the grass free of small litter.  Ended up sweeping around our Dumpster, where accumulations of broken glass from months was looking a bit unkempt.  Sure feels good to clean up my little part of the world.

2012, It's almost here!

     I was just watching one of Nic Askews soul biographies/short words when I had this realization: We only have three years until it will be 2012, for what ever that is worth.  

     Seems to me it is time to get clickin, doing, acting, getting a move on, pulling up socks and doing something useful for ourselves, our planet, our neighbors.

     Anyone else getting a feeling of time speeding up?  More energy in the air?  More smiles being shared, more hugs given and received?

     I do wish I still had my copy of "A Course In Miracles" on the shelf; going to have to get another copy.  I am experiencing so many miracles these days; love is pouring from my heart and coming back from others.  I suppose some of the learnings from the "Manual for Teachers" that had been long forgotten have miraculously been given to me again.

Choices - A Tribute to Ole Larsen

     One of my mentors, Ole Larsen, when he lived in Pensacola Beach three decades ago sported a personalized license plate: CHOICES.

      Ole was fond of employing experiential learnings in assisting others in their personal growth, as did Gurdjieff and other spiritual leaders.   One morning as I was sitting down for breakfast in his home in Pensacola Beach Florida Ole asked me: "David, If you could have anything you wanted for breakfast, what would that be?"  I don't recall my exact reply, however, I do recall the emotion that question engendered in me - somewhat embarrassed, hesitant to state what I really would like if anything was available, generally flummoxed.  

     I since have come to realize that all we have to do is ask for what we want.  With specifics.  Exactly how we want it to be.  And when we empower that asking with the emotion of desire, we can then give thanks, knowing the (universe) (God) (Spirit) has already started moving our request to us. 

     I never really acknowledged to Ole how much he gave me during the several years we interacted from time to time.  And I must acknowledge, that I am a slow learner in many areas.  Once, Ole said to me "David, you need to handle your money".  So, twenty six years later, I'm handling my money.  

     As I said, in some areas, I'm a slow learner.

In my younger years, I was the one to point out how it could have been 

done better; I now choose to step into the arena where excitement, 

growth, new learnings and joy await.

As Above, So Below; As Within, So Without

     As I do most mornings, I reflect.  Today's reflection while walking was: How can I give today without want?  The immediate answer was to volunteer at 8/29.  So that's what I'll do for a part of my day today.  

     Another reflection was: As Within, So Without: To me that means what I allow into my mind becomes my reality as a result of the Law Of Attraction.   

     One of the things I ceased to allow in was TV, - Result: I now have at least 10 more hours a week producing value for others.

     Another activity eliminated was reading what seems mostly to be Constant Negative News.  So gone is the hour and a half spent reading the NY Times Headlines each day - Result: more time for creating positive results in my life by working on my business.

     Some positive side effects: I am more cheerful in my relationships, My Coaching flows much more easily.

The idea that we have the power to control every aspect of our
lives simply by choosing what we believe is a very seductive
concept. However, this seems to fly in the face of common sense
and traditional science. And if it's true, then why isn't it
obvious?

That's certainly a reasonable question to ask. After all, over
the course of time, we've discovered how to do many different
things, including how to harness the power of the atom for both
destruction and electrical power, and how to create super-complex
computer systems that can produce fantastically realistic special
effects in movies and television commercials.

Although when we sit and think about it, how much of what we've
learned over time was obvious? For example, how obvious is it to
mix flour, oil, eggs, milk, sugar, baking powder, and cocoa to
make a chocolate cake? Maybe we should ask any of the thousands
who have trouble getting it right even with a recipe.

It has always amazed me to wonder how anyone thought to mix that
combination of ingredients, and to keep trying the many possible
combinations until they produced an edible result. How many eggs
should we put in, one, two, twenty? How much flour this time, a
handful or a pound?

Similarly, how obvious is it to turn grapes into wine? As I
understand it, the fermentation process involves a precise
control of temperature, a mix of different kinds of yeast, a way
to prevent oxygen from getting to the mixture, and then waiting
for 10 to 30 days. And then there's an additional aging process
after that!

Maybe we've been too busy discovering so many different things
that we just haven't come around to discovering the connection
between beliefs and experience.

On the other hand, even though it may not be obvious that our
beliefs directly affect the world around us, there have been
people throughout history who have discovered the truth and tried
to tell us how important our beliefs are. It's not exactly a new
concept, but one that has been around for thousands of years

Giving Thanks

     Today is another of those georgeous winter days here in New Orleans.  As I started my day with a morning walk, I was reminded of all those things I am thankful for.  The squirrel climbing up the oak tree, the sparrows flitting in and out of the trees, the fact that I have more to be thankful for than a good percentage of the world's population, many of whom are going hungry today.

    So, I give thanks to God, the universe, or how ever He/She/It is described for all I am thankful for.   I am committed today to use my talents to inspire, mentor, and coach others to manifest their highest potential.

Winter Cleaning

     So, the closets are cleaned out and the Office is much more organized.  Just have one desk to go to have the office spiffy.  

     Realizing that my outer world is a reflection of my inner world, this must mean that my inner world is becoming more clean and free.
